Car used in murder recovered

Wednesday, May 6, 1998 | 11:29 a.m.

The car believed to have been used in a robbery and execution-style murder of a female bartender at Doc Holliday's Saloon early Tuesday has been recovered by Metro Police.

Shelly Lokken, 31, was bound, then shot once in the back of the head execution style, police said. Her body was found behind the bar. A motorist noticed two men get into an early model gray Cadillac and leave without the car's headlights on from the parking lot of the tavern, at Westcliff and Durango drives about 1:20 a.m. He called police, who went into the bar and found Lokken's body.

Missing from the bar was surveillance video equipment, homicide Lt. Wayne Petersen said. Also missing was an undetermiend amount of cash, he said. Tuesday afternoon, officers found the car near the downtown area, and one person was questioned in connection with the crime, Petersen said.

"At this time, no arrests have been made," Petersen said this morning.
