SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
Kurt Bailey, an assistant with Valley High School's 4A state champion boys basketball squad, has been named the new head coach at Basic. Bailey has spent the past two years working under Vikings' coach Paul Aznarez, whose Valley squad compiled a 51-12 overall record during that time. "He's going to be a welcome addition to our staff," Basic athletic administrator Carl Barbeau said. "He's got a lot of energy, and he stresses fundamentals." Bailey replaces outgoing coach Mike Dye, who resigned recently after four years at the school. Dye leaves with a 33-53 record with the Wolves.
