$20,000 reward being offered for slayer of woman bartender

Wednesday, May 6, 1998 | 1:28 a.m.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, acting on a tip from a witness, found Shelly Lokken shot to death Tuesday at Doc Holliday's Saloon on the city's northwest side.

Police were called after a witness reported a gray Cadillac leaving the scene with its lights off. Two people got into the vehicle before it left. The car was later found near the downtown area and police say evidence linking the car to the crime was found inside the vehicle.

Police have questioned one person in the slaying but no arrests have been made.

It was the second fatal incident involving the bar.

In August, two suspects in a robbery at the tavern died when they were involved in a crash during a high-speed police chase.

Police said the bartender in Tuesday's incident had been bound and executed behind the bar with a single gun shot to the head.

An undetermined amount of money was taken, along with video recording equipment.
