Margaret Springgate named to Mills Lane’s seat

Governor Miller named her on Friday to succeed Washoe District Judge Mills Lane, who's pursuing a television career.
His last day was Thursday. Her first was Friday.
Ms. Springgate, 43, headed the Child Victims Model Court Project at the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges in Reno.
She previously was legal counsel to the governor and to the state Department of Business and Industry's Division of Industrial Relations.
She was graduated first in her class from the McGeorge School of Law in California and received her master's degree in English literature from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Miller appointed her from three finalists for the post. The others were Washoe County Deputy District Attorney Gemma Greene and Kevin Bacon, who heads the Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit in the attorney general's office.
