AND THE WINNER IS -- Robert McDonald, winner of a Gold Medal at the Busoni International Piano Competition, will take his seat at the Steinway at 7:30 tonight in UNLV's Artemus Ham Hall. For the past decade, McDonald has been the recital partner to both Isaac Stern and Midori and, as a soloist, has performed throughout the world. SONG OF INDIA -- The haunting sounds of the sitar will fill the Reed Whipple Cultural Center at 8 tonight when virtuoso Kartik Seshadri takes the stage. A protege of Pandit Ravi Shankar, he has played duets in concert with the maestro. Tickets are $12, $10 for students, seniors and the disabled at the door at 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
NATE TALKS WITH THE ANIMALS -- Channel 3's Nathan Tannenbaum tells the tales of "Carnaval of the Animals" and two pianos and the chamber orchestra sing their songs in CCSN's first Piano Festival at 2 p.m. Sunday. Also on the program, works for two pianos by Johann Sebastian Bach and Darius Milhaud. Tickets are $8, $5 for students and seniors at the Nicholas Horn Theater, 3200 E. 'POETRY AND MOTION' -- UNLV's Dance Arts Company dancers bring all new works to life at the Judy Bayley Theater at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The concert includes ballet, jazz and modern works, poetry and tap dance. Tickets are $8, $5 for students, seniors and military at the Ham Hall box office, 895-3801.
SHOWCASING SCHOLARS -- The scholarship dancers of Children's Musical Theater Workshop will present a Spring Showcase and the musical "Six Innings" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. DAVID/GOLIATH -- George Fischoff plays both the boy shepherd and the Philistine champion in his one-man performance of "Shepherd!" at 8 p.m. Sunday at UNLV's Ham Hall. David's story unfolds through his rise to power and his marriage to the conveniently widowed Bathsheba. PAIRED PREMIERES -- Two plays, "Buried Under" by Greg Vovos and "The Profession" by Walter Wykes have their world premieres this weekend at UNLV's Black Box Theater. The same three-member cast performs in both plays. Performances are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 at the Performing Arts Center box office, 895-3801.

ST. ANNE'S FAIR -- The second annual carnival and fun fair sponsored by St. Anne's church and school includes full-size carnival rides, special rides for the tots, games, ethnic food booths, entertainment and dancing from 1-11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday on the school grounds at 1813 Maryland Parkway at St. Louis Avenue. And this is feel-good fun: All the funds raised will be used to help pay for the new multipurpose center and gym at the school.
