Basin bosses to discuss Tahoe deliverables

By meeting, the regional executives will fulfill one element of the executive order signed at Lake Tahoe last July by President Clinton. Their task is to implement the package of programs and projects - called deliverables - seen as essential in restoring Lake Tahoe's declining clarity and improving the basin's ailing forests.
Participating in the meeting will be the regional directors of the U.S. Forest Service, Postal Service, Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The meeting of regional executives follows two earlier meetings among the local directors of the same agencies.
In addition to the federal effort, the president's executive order also created a partnership committee to coordinate federal activities with those of California, Nevada, local governments and the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California.
