A 53-year-old California woman died today from injuries sustained in an auto accident Wednesday afternoon at Patrick Lane and Sandhill Road.
The drivers of both vehicles as well as another passenger were treated for what Metro Police described as minor to serious injuries.
Adrian Bruni of Santa Monica died at the University Medical Center at 2:40 a.m. -- the 30th auto fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
She was a back-seat passenger in a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Joyce Ann Richey, 59, of North Las Vegas. Also in the car was front-seat passenger Joseph Bruni, 61, of Santa Monica. They were treated for serious injuries. It was not immediately known whether they were wearing seatbelts, police said.
Michael Anthony Gerber, 18, of Las Vegas, driver of a 1995 Dodge pick-up truck, suffered minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt, police said.
Richey's westbound car was attempting to turn left onto Patrick Lane shortly after 2 p.m. It collided with Gerber's eastbound truck. Both had green lights.
Police said Richey failed to yield the right-of-way and entered the path of the truck, causing the collision.
The accident is still under investigation, police said.
