State high court decisions to be available on Internet

Wednesday, March 25, 1998 | 11:44 a.m.

Jeannette Bloom, the Supreme Court clerk, says she has been working with the legislative information services staff to develop a Web site for court decisions.

The Supreme Court releases about 1,300 decisions a year. Most aren't available to the general public and attorneys until weeks after they're filed.

But Bloom said decisions will be posted on the Internet within a day after they are made by the Supreme Court justices.

Court decisions will be found within the Nevada law section of the Legislature's home page, http://leg.state.nv.us/. Eventually, the court will have its own web site.

During a Tuesday administrative meeting, Justice Cliff Young complained the court spends too much time copying its decisions. He said the court makes about 130 copies of its decisions for staff attorneys and others.

Bloom said the court should be able to reduce the copying once the Internet site comes online.
