Yerington pupil gets indefinite time at Caliente

Lyon District Judge David Huff ordered Steven McCabe, 15, to serve time at the Caliente youth facility in southern Nevada until officials decide he is sufficiently rehabilitated to be released.
Huff convicted McCabe earlier this month after a hearing in which witnesses said the teen-ager tried to enlist them in a plot to lock the doors during an assembly and open fire, targeting people on a list he had marked for death.
McCabe's attorney, Mark Jackson, said his client was a below-average pupil who craved attention and made a poor decision on how to get it.
The Yerington High School sophomore was arrested Dec. 17 at the school after officers discovered handgun and shotgun ammunition in his locker.
