Virginia Louise Cottone, 47, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 15 years, she was born June 13, 1950, in Van Buren, Ark.

She is survived by one child, Stacy Cater of Las Vegas; two brothers, John Cater of Oregon, and Billy Rhynes of Arkansas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

GARY JOSEPH DANAHER

Gary Joseph Danaher, 46, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1952, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. A resident for two years, he was a carpenter.

He is survived by his fiance, Connie Stamulis, two sons, Christopher and Wesley, one daughter, Heather, his mother, Irene Bilski, and one sister, Nancy Bilski, all of Las Vegas; and three brothers, Thomas Danaher of Canoga Park, Calif., and Gregory Danaher and Frank Bilski, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. graveside services Sunday in Memory Gardens. Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

AMADO DELGADO JR.

Amado Delgado Jr., 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Tampa, Fla. A resident for 45 years, he was a machinist for EG&G and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Edward Spoon and Dr. Dennis Delgado; and five grandchildren.

WAINO LAATIKAINEN

Waino Laatikainen, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Bear Creek, Mont. A resident for 39 years, he was a maintenance foreman for the Department of Water and Power at Hoover Dam for 25 years and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Wayne M. Laatikainen of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

FRANCESCA I. LOOSE

Francesca I. Loose, 94, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1903. A resident for 32 years, she was a nurse.

She is survived by one son, Alfred Christian Loose; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

JOHNNY E. MACBRIDE

Johnny E. MacBride, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 22, 1925, in California. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired cross-country trucker.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene McBride; three daughters, Patricia Prucha, Debbie Gladden and Karie Rosser; one sister, Louise Steidinger; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

SLYFREDIA MARCANO

Slyfredia Marcano, 46, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1952, in St. Louis. A resident for three years, she was a retail cashier.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Phillips of Indian Springs; three brothers, Jeway Worthy Phillips Jr. of Indian Springs, James Phillips of Chandler, Ariz., and Juan Phillips of Sacramento; two sisters, Allison Phillips of Chesapeake, Va., and Jewel Phillips of Indian Springs.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Indian Springs. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday in Palm Memorial Park.

ANTHONY T. MORRIS JR.

Anthony T. Morris Jr., 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 4, 1924, in New York. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired postmaster in Pittman, N.Y., a Navy veteran, a member of Veteran's Boxing Association 711 and the First Church of Christ Scientist and organized tennis leagues at the Desert Inn and UNLV.

He is survived by his wife, Rae V.; and nine grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather at the home of Tom and Ray, 1 p.m. Sunday. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

EDWARD BLAKE MOWAT

Edward Blake Mowat, 74, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 29, 1923, in Beamsville, Ontario. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired operating engineer and a member of the Operating Engineers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; one brother, Glenn Mowat of Ontario; and one sister, June Runnler of California.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

MELANIE R. NELSON

Melanie R. Nelson, 48, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. She was born March 19, 1950, in New York. A resident for 23 years, she was a PBX operator for Sears.

She is survived by one daughter, Dina Rosaci, one son, John Nelson, her mother, Rita Bastone, and one sister, Denise Bastone, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Eden Vale Memorial Park. Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

JIMMY PARRETT

Jimmy Parrett, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Ohio. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Barbra Abbott of St. George, Utah, and Kim Zapata of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Les Parrett and Carey Parrett, both of Sebring, Fla.; one sister, Tomie Lou Imlay of San Francisco; his caregiver, Bouncer Parrett of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the El Dorado Estates Clubhouse, 4525 W. Twain. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to Vista Hospice Care, 1830 E. Sahara, Suite 102, Las Vegas.

JEWAY W. PHILLIPS

Jeway W. Phillips, 67, of Indian Springs died Tuesday in Indian Springs. He was born April 2, 1930, in Baltimore. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired Air Force chief master sergeant and transportation supervisor, a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three sons, Jeway Worthy Phillips Jr. of Indian Springs, James Phillips of Chandler, Ariz., and Juan Phillips of Sacramento; two daughters, Allison Phillips of Chesapeake, Va., and Jewel Phillips of Indian Springs; his mother, Emma Sue Young of Edgemere, Md.; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church of Indian Springs. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

RALPH POTTER

Ralph Potter, 65, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Illinois. A resident for 19 years, he was a security officer.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; one son, Edward Potter; one daughter, Terri Busby; one brother, Jim Potter; one sister, Betty Jones; and one grandchild.

RAMON A. RAMOS

Ramon A. Ramos, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Cuba. A resident for 18 years, he was a porter in the gaming industry.

He is survived by his wife, Felipa; one daughter, Ania Ramos, and one son, Ariel Ramos, both of Las Vegas; three sisters, Raquel Chavez of Las Vegas, and Carol Ramos and Regla Ramos, both of Cuba; and four brothers, Chucho Ramos, Tony Ramos, Chichi Ramos and Pitite Ramos, all of Cuba.

Visitation was scheduled 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. services today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

CECILIA CORINE SZUKALA

Cecilia Corine Szukala, 74, of Henderson died Thursday in Henderson. She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Kentucky. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Les Szukala of Henderson and Tim Szukala of California; one daughter, Sharon Smith of Henderson; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

JOHN W. WASHINGTON SR.

John W. Washington Sr., 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 14, 1926, in Belzoni, Miss. A resident for nine years, he was a retired bus driver and a Korean War and Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia M.; five daughters, Wanda Tanner of Roswell, Ga., Teresa Washington and Brenda Seales, both of Long Beach, Calif., Patricia Washington of Orlando, Fla., and Vanessa Hernandez of Las Vegas; two sons, Ronald Washington of Chicago and John W. Washington Jr. of Long Beach; one sister, Lillian Powell of Seattle; one brother, Thomas Washington of Chicago; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 3 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. A private burial will follow.

WAYNE D. WATERS

Wayne D. Waters, 69, of Boulder City died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired carpenter, a Korean War and Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Horseman's Association of Boulder City and the Henderson Bridge Club.

He is survived by his wife, Rhea Jean; three daughters, Jeanie Gutierrez and Mindy Gubler, both of Las Vegas, and Cindy Belding of Henderson; four sons, Gary Webb of Boulder City, Jerry Webb and Matthew Webb, both of Las Vegas, and Sandy Webb of Cedar City, Utah; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to noon services Tuesday in the LDS Chapel at Buchanan and Gingerwood in Boulder City. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

THEODORE WERNER

Theodore Werner, 88, of Bountiful, Utah, died Wednesday in Bountiful. He was born July 21, 1909, in Albert Lea, Minn. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a car salesman, a park ranger at Lake Mead, helped build the Shell Oil service station in Las Vegas and built his own service station and added a tire shop for retreading during World War II. He also was a Lincoln-Mercury and Packard-Jeep-Lark car dealer and was elected to the water board in Las Vegas without running a campaign. He was an avid scouter, receiving the Silver Beaver award, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Lion's Club. He received his pilot's license and flew rescue missions for cattle in Nevada, and during his retirement he worked for Yellowstone Park driving bus tours. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a plumber, carpenter, electrician, chauffeur and mechanic for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Afton; one son, T. Bryant Werner of Magna, Utah; two daughters, H. Louise Westergard of Bountiful and A. Linda Smith of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Erica Gannaway of Lebanon, Ore., and Nadine Jordan of Sacramento; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
