WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- The Las Vegas Thunder again failed to win consecutive games when it fell to the Manitoba Moose 4-1 Sunday. The last time the Thunder won two in a row was Jan. 17 and 20, a span of 18 games.
Las Vegas, which posted a 6-5 shootout victory over last-place San Antonio on Friday, fell behind early and struggled to find any offense, registering just three shots in the first period.
Manitoba scored twice on Las Vegas goaltender Konstantin Simchuk in the first period. At 9:18 Greg Pankewicz converted on a power play and scored his 31st goal of the season. Just under three minutes later, former Thunder Kent Fearns recorded his seventh of the season and the Moose never looked back.
The Thunder averted the shutout when Joe Day scored a power-play goal at 4:29 of the third period. David Shaw and Patrice Lefebvre assisted.
