Boy Scout honored for heroism

Chris Noad, 12, a Tenderfoot Scout, wrestled a 120-pound rottweiler to the ground last April while his sister, Lara, ran to safety.
"I just reacted. I didn't think about anything," said the Dayton Intermediate School seventh grader.
The dog leaped on the girl and tore into her back, shoulders and head. The animal then began dragging the girl through brush before her brother intervened.
The attack sent Lara to the hospital and left permanent scars on her back and scalp. The dog, who belonged to their mother's brother, was put to sleep the next morning.
At his troop's honor ceremony Friday night, Chris was awarded the Boy Scout's gold Honor Medal for "unusual heroism."
