Letter: Proposals would only enhance enjoyment of Mount Charleston
Monday, June 29, 1998 | 1:08 a.m.
I feel the existing facilities, which include a golf course, driving range, outdoor ice skating rink, miniature golf course and group picnic area, are a welcome addition to Mount Charleston. It provides my family with more activities out of the valley heat.
All valley residents who really care about Mount Charleston should drive up there and see for themselves, as my husband and I have done. What a great facility.
The proposed additions next to the Mount Charleston Hotel, include: a group picnic area, horse rides, hay wagon rides, a steak house and barbecue area, a general store with coffee bar, a kids animal petting area, an inside-outside dance and festival area, a game area and gallery, Western shop, fishing pond, gardens and patios, ice cream store, art and craft shop, environmental and Western exhibits.
Let's quit making excuses and concocting reasons to deny this great recreational facility from becoming a reality. Issues such as fire, police and traffic are resolved and mitigated everyday between the developers and the respective departments in the county.
Too many people are taking a position against this well planned recreational facility without having even visited the facility to check it out for themselves. How blind can you be?
