Truckee River Restorations Inc. wants to halt the destruction of the downtown landmark until a judge decides whether Reno should seek a new round of proposals.
Truckee Rivers Restoration President Lawrence Denig said his company and another firm spent $1 million in 1992 for studies and plans to restore the Mapes.
The deal fell through when they could not obtain financing for the renovation.
He had argued since for re-opening of the proposals process.
Denig said the plans offered by DDR-OliverMcMillan and approved by the city earlier this week are curiously close to the ones he drew up six years ago.
