Maria Amezquita, 56, of Las Vegas died Monday at a local hospital. She was born April 26, 1942, in Mexico. She was a resident of 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Baudelio Amezquita of Las Vegas; two daughters. Araceli Espinoza of Las Vegas and Rosina Ramirez of Modesto, Calif.; three sons, Javier Amezquita, Victor H. Amezquita and Fermin Amezquita, all of Las Vegas; five sisters, Dolores Marquez, Bertha Marquez and Guadalupe Marquez, all of Mexico, Esther Marquez of Union City, Calif., and Rufina Hernandez of Las Vegas; three brothers, Jose Marques of Union City, Arturo Marquez of Las Vegas and Maurilio Marquez of Mexico; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 5 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 6 p.m. today at the same location. Another service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church.

ZELDA ELIZABETH BRANT a k a BETTY SMITH

Zelda Elizabeth Brant a k a Betty Smith, 94, of Las Vegas died Sunday at a local hospital. She was born April 18, 1904, in Fairbury, Neb. A resident of 35 years, she was a beauty shop owner and beautician.

She is survived by her guardian, Mary Rose Devitte.

Arrangements were handled by Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave. No. 3.

CHRISTIAN J. BUHLERT JR.

Christian J. Buhlert Jr., 67, of Las Vegas died Monday. He was born July 19, 1930, in Portland, Maine. A resident of five years, he was a retired hotel porter and Korean War and Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Buhlert; three sons, Hank Castonguay of Vancouver, Wash., Rocky Castonguay of Las Vegas and Buzz Castonguay of Victorville, Calif.; two daughters, Deborah Wright of Las Vegas and Terri Bain of Riverside, Calif; two sisters, Anita Marie of Capistrano Beach, Calif., and Nan Tracy of Phoenix; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Affordable Cremation & Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

ROBERT R. BURKHOLDER

Robert R. Burkholder, 66, of Las Vegas died June 9 at a local hospice. He was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Massachusetts. A longtime resident, he was in shoe sales and a Navy veteran.

Arrangements were handled by Desert Memorial Cremation & Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

MARGUERITE CALL

Marguerite Call, 96, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 14, 1902, in Lewiston, Utah. A resident of 58 years, she was a seamstress in the retail clothing industry.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Rheen Call of Las Vegas; four daughters, Anita DeMille of Laverkin, Utah, Geneva Peterson of Farmington, Utah, and Gaynell MacKay and Margie Cox, both of Las Vegas; 34 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday at the Cartier LDS Chapel, 2520 N. Jones Blvd.

EDGAR G. DAVIS

Edgar G. Davis, 84, of Las Vegas died June 3 at a local hospice. He was born April 13, 1914, in New York City. A resident of 8 1/2 years, he was a retired accountant for the county government, a World War II Army veteran and served on the vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; his daughter, Barbara Davis Starks of Upland, Calif.; one sister, Olga Davis Summers of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

CLYDE F. FELTON SR.

Clyde F. Felton Sr., 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Layton, Utah. He was born April 19, 1921, in Springfield, Mo. A resident of 40 years, he was a retired truck driver, World War II Army veteran, lifetime member of the VFW and a member of American Legion.

He is survived by three sons, David Felton of Bolivar, Mo., Clyde Felton Jr. of Springville, Ind., and Dennis Harshman of St. Paul, Minn.; one daughter, Audrey Wencl of Austin, Minn.; three sisters, Leona Lichtenwalter of Clifton, Idaho, Almerta Ferdon of Sunset, Utah, and Edna Faanes of Eau Claire, Wis.; one brother, Ernest Felton of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Memory Gardens.

EDMUNDO TAPIA GONZALEZ

Edmundo Tapia Gonzalez, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 4, 1933, in Mexico. A resident of eight months, he was a Maitre d' in a restaurant.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Elena Gonzalez of Mexico.

The burial will be held in Mexico.

EARL HANSEN

Earl Hansen, 67, of Las Vegas died June 12 at a local hospital. He was born July 4, 1930, in Iowa. A resident of 15 years, he was a retired manager of a grocery store and a Korean War veteran.

He is survived by three sisters, Betty Wheeler and Phyllis Sodaro, both of Oaklawn, Ill., and Ann Carolyn Cabay, of Villa Park, Ill.; and friend Len Peplyn.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

LARRY HICKS

Larry Hicks, 50, of Henderson died Monday at a local hospital. He was born July, 25, 1947, in Medford, Ore. A resident of 34 years, he was a salesman in investments and real estate.

He is survived by his wife, Randi Hicks; one daughter; three sisters, Helen Bean of Boulder City, Georgia Wooley of Vernal, Utah, and Debbie Jones of Alabama; two brothers, Eldon Hicks of Farmington, N.M., and Dick Hicks of Salt Lake City; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the same location. Burial will follow.

ROBERT E. HILL SR.

Robert E. Hill Sr., 68, of Las Vegas died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was born April, 7, 1930, in Providence, R.I. A resident of 23 years, he was an administrative assistant, an Air Force retiree and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Robert E. Hill Jr. of Las Vegas and Paul Hill of Jean.

JAMES BYRON HOLMAN

James Byron Holman, 79, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 13, 1919, in Utah. A resident of 43 years, he was a plumber and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his son-in-law, William R. Bennett of Henderson; two sisters, Gailia Daley of Payson, Utah, and Verla Curtis of Salt Lake City; two grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Santaquin City Cemetery, Utah.

WAYNE WILCOX HYMAS

Wayne Wilcox Hymas, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Paris, Idaho. A resident of 28 years, he was an owner of a grocery business and Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Madeline; two sons, Douglas Hymes of St. George, Utah, and Terry Hymas of Tooele, Utah; two daughters, Lynette Bracken of Tooele and Stacey Faddis of Cedar City, Utah; one brother, McKay Hymas of Las Vegas; one sister, Lois Caldwell of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Bunkers.

EDWARD KAPLAN

Edward Kaplan, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Vilnius, Lithuania. A resident of 19 years, he was a retired chauffeur.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Howard Kaplan and Michael Kaplan, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

FAY R. KAPLAN

Fay R. Kaplan, 90, died Tuesday at a local hospice. She was born Sept. 15, 1907, in Grodno, Poland. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker and frequent bingo player at Palace Station.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Martin of Las Vegas; one son, Richard Kaplan of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., followed by graveside Services at Woodlawn Cemetery.

ARTHUR R. LANGNER

Arthur R. Langner, 90, of Las Vegas died May 31 at a local hospice. He was born June 10, 1907, in Illinois. A resident of 24 years, he was an advertising salesman and member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Estelle; and one daughter, June Smith.

ALMA HELEN LEASE

Alma Helen Lease, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 23, 1929, in Philadelphia. A resident of six years, she was a tailor at Joe's Tailor Shop.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Lease Fajardo; and one brother, Jack Bordihn of Alaska.

Arrangements were handled by Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave. No. 3.

VICTOR MIRALLI

Victor Miralli, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 6, 1917, in Chicago. A resident of 20 years, he was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his companion, Dorothy Vallecorse; two sons, Geno Miralli and John Miralli, both of Las Vegas; two daughters, Marie Anderson of Phyllis, Ken., and Victoria Morano of McHenry, Ill.; one sister, Vivian Kilbride of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. services today at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Another visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 am. Friday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Friday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

JOHN W. NEWTON

John W. Newton, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Canada. A resident for 24 years, he was a police officer in Santa Monica, Calif., a World War II Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion, Elks VFW, Lions, Disabled American Veterans and was past president of the North Las Vegas Girls Club.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M.; two sons, Michael Newton of Las Vegas and Jackie Lee of Texas; two brothers, Warren Newton and Fred Newton, both of Pontiac, Mich.; and one grandchild.

Graveside services will be 10:45 a.m. July 1 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

DAVID E. PARKHURST

David E. Parkhurst, 23, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 5, 1998, in Vista, Calif. A resident of 21 years, he was a food server.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Richard D. and Jenny Parkhurst, one sister, Elizabeth Dunk, and his grandparents, Jean and Gene Fisher, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7:30 p.m. today at Bunkers Chapel, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Community Lutheran Church.

ROBERT H. SHANNON

Robert H. Shannon, 88, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 13, 1909, in Kansas City, Mo. A one-year resident, he was a carpet layer and Army veteran.

He is survived by one nephew, James Shannon of Las Vegas.

VIRGINIA SIANI

Virginia Siani, 82, of Camarillo, Calif., died Tuesday in a California hospital. She was born July 28, 1915, in Liberal, Kan. A former Las Vegas resident for many years, she was a local podiatry assistant for 25 years and an associate buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.

She is survived by two brothers, George Lusk of Chico, Calif., and Paul Lusk of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Myrna Grim of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Margy Honeck of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews.

No local services are scheduled. Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, N.Y., is handling arrangements.

MARY J. SAVAGE STIRLING

Mary J. Savage Stirling, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 4, 1905, in St. George, Utah. A resident of 68 years, she was a schoolteacher, a LDS stake Primary president, a second Relief Society president in the Second Ward and a charter member of the Literary Club of Las Vegas.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Ross of Las Vegas; one son, Keith Stirling of Mapleton, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Gateway and Wyoming LDS Stake Center.

DEDRA L. WRENCHER

Dedra L. Wrencher, 31, of Las Vegas died June 17 in Las Vegas. She was born June 4, 1967, in Chicago. A resident of six months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Whittney C. Moore, Brittney T. Moore and Michelle D. Moore, and one son, Jimmeal D. Moore, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Devora Wrencher of Las Vegas; her father, James Paschal of California; four brothers, Clayton Wrencher and Reginald Wrencher, both of Las Vegas, Raymond Wrencher of Wisconsin and Steven Leeks of Kansas; three sisters, Dorothea Wrencher and Rhonda Wrencher, both of Las Vegas, and Sheila Leeks of Kansas; and her grandmother, Earline Paschal of Chicago.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. services Friday at American Burial & Cremation Services. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
