Letter: Another voice weighs in on tipping card dealers

Thursday, June 25, 1998 | 11:45 a.m.

--- Casinos pay them about minimum wage -- $4, $5 hourly.

--- They live and sometimes only exist on their tips, especially if they have children.

--- Whether or not they receive tips, they are reported to the IRS. Thank You.

--- If you can live only on your zero balanced check collected at the "payroll office," then by all means, be my guest!!

--- I know for a fact that not only blackjack dealers but also poker dealers have to take foul language. Cards are thrown at them. Some even get fired because of people just like you. I have never seen anyone with a long stick with a hook on it pull anyone in to play any table games.

I've lost thousands and won thousands and I knew and know how to tip. Cocktail waitresses too. If I had ever been a dealer and had to put up with what these dealers today put up with, I'm afraid, I'd be sitting on death row.

But, I would have put one miserable foul-mouthed creep where he could never abuse a dealer ever again!!
