OKLAHOMA CITY --- This was not the kind of homecoming that Las Vegas Stars pitcher Kevin Lomon had hoped for.
Lomon, who resides in Cameron, Okla., with his wife Mindy and two children, was hammered for 14 hits and 11 runs in just five innings in the Stars' 14-8 loss to the Oklahoma Redhawks Monday night at Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark.
It was the third straight loss for Las Vegas (30-32) and dropped Lomon's record to 0-7.
Las Vegas led 2-0 entering the bottom of the second before the Redhawks (37-25) put together a seven-run inning, sending 12 men to the plate. Right fielder Marc Sagmoen, who went 4 for 6 with five RBIs, highlighted the uprising with a two-run double.
Las Vegas cut the deficit to 7-4 in the third inning on back-to-back home runs by first baseman Eddie Williams and third baseman George Arias. But Oklahoma answered with two more runs in the third, single runs in the fourth and fifth and two more runs in the sixth en route to a 13-4 lead.
Arias hit his second home run of the game in the seventh, his 19th of the season and his league-leading 59th RBI. Williams added his second home run of the night two innings later, his 10th.
Oklahoma finished with 20 hits in the contest, the most by a team against the Stars this season.
Las Vegas concludes its series against the Redhawks tonight with right-hander Matt Clement (6-5) opposing right-hander Terry Clark.
