Letter: Article on disabled’s problems with CAT hits familiar chord

Friday, June 12, 1998 | 10:25 a.m.

This new Route 701 is some kind of a joke. Some of the drivers have to have a cigarette every 10 minutes. They stand in the doorway and blow smoke into the bus. Check this out yourself on the Bruce Street layover, etc.

I'm 70 years old, six feet tall, weigh 170 and look about 50. Crossing streets is mind-boggling now. I can never make it with walk signs, and drivers think I should run to get out of their way -- two steps trying to run and I'm out for the day.

I never know how I will feel from hour to hour, never mind day to day. Three steps up into the bus and I must sit down for a couple of minutes to recover.
