PBA: Edwards leads after third round

LAS VEGAS -- Mike Edwards had a 300 game and six other games over 235 Wednesday night to move into a one-pin lead over Dave Husted after the third round of qualifying in the Professional Bowlers Association Showboat Invitational.

Edwards has a lead of 5,721-5,720 over Husted, who had games of 225 or better among the eight he rolled Wednesday night.

Ryan Shafer had games of 265, 256 and 235 to retain third place with 5,694 pins and Brian LeClair was fourth with 5,651.

The top 53 scorers were to return Thursday for a final round of qualifying, and the top 24 then will go into three rounds of match play through Friday. The top four then advance to Saturday's finals.
