Musicians, businesses protest format change

Thursday, June 11, 1998 | 10:16 a.m.

On May 17, managers at KUNV eliminated the alternative rock program "Rock Avenue" from its format. THe show was replaced by a rented satellite feed from Chicago.

Matt Chernoff (12 Volt Sex/TVS Industries) and Brian Saliba (Bogus Productions/Graphics Inc.), former "Rock Avenue" DJs, 11 local bands featuring 12 Volt Sex, Attaboy Skip, Floor 13, Johnny Flamehead, Inside Scarlett, Linus and Ulterior Motives as well as businesses throughout the Las Vegas Valley will gather on June 20 as the "Rock Avenue Alliance."

The event is open to the public and people can sign a petition and also take petitions home for others in the community to sign. Tickets, at $2, go on sale the day of the show at the Huntridge Theatre. All proceeds will fund the Rock Avenue Alliance.

Petition forms will be available at Espresso Roma, 4440 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 109 (across from UNLV, next to Kinko's) as well as other participating businesses across the valley.

Sponsors for this show include: Mahoney's Pro Music and Drum Shop, City Life, Scope, Benway Records, Big B's, Moving Sun Studios, Boogie Woogie Presents, The Concert Company, Espresso Roma, Shoestring Entertainment, LasVegasBiz.Com, The Huntridge Theatre, Good Music Agency, EAT-M (Emerging Artists and Talent in Music), and the Sound Barrier.

The event is being co-produced with TVS Industries and Bogus Productions.
