Businessman takes complaint about Carson sheriff, DA to high court

Rolland Weddell has asked the high court to review District Judge Michael Fondi's dismissal of his accusations that the officials and deputies didn't do their jobs.
Weddell was involved in an incident last October with two Sacramento men who allegedly threatened his daughter and hit one of his employees with a vehicle in his construction yard.
Weddell now faces criminal charges for firing several shots at one of the men the next day, in what he says was an attempted citizen's arrest. He maintains he was doing what authorities had failed to do.
Fondi threw out the accusations against the deputies and a deputy prosecutor because they aren't elected officials. The judge also dismissed the claims against Sheriff Rod Banister and District Attorney Noel Waters, saying the officials both have broad discretionary powers.
