A pedestrian killed Monday while crossing Tropicana Avenue near Koval Lane was jaywalking, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
Greg Villalobos, 35, of Indio, Calif., had crossed Tropicana's westbound lanes and was making his way across the eastbound lanes when he was clipped by a van, knocked into the farthest right lane and run over by a 1989 Lincoln, said Trooper Scott Flabi, NHP spokesman.
The Lincoln's driver, a 70-year-old Las Vegas resident, stopped immediately after the accident. The van's driver, however, kept driving.
"The van's driver may not even know that the pedestrian was hit," Flabi said.
The accident was captured on the nearby MGM Grand hotel-casino's video surveillance cameras, however investigators were unable to determine the van's color or license plate.
The NHP is hoping to track down the van's driver in order to complete its report, Flabi said.
