The panel briefly discussed the operations proposed for nine locations in Churchill and Mineral counties and concurred with the findings by Carson City Bureau of Land Management District Manager John Singlaub that the training would have no significant impact on the public land or its users.
Combat Search and Rescue exercises now are limited to Navy-controlled land. The air station wants to expand that to provide different training scenarios in diverse terrain at greater distances, the Lahontan Valley News and Fallon Eagle Standard said.
Terri Knutson, acting environmental coordinator for the Carson City BLM District, said the locations were the exercises would take place are so remote she doesn't think the Navy and recreationists would clash.
