The sculptures, all made from common or cast-off materials, present the viewer with an implied, but uncertain, utility.
Dayton has recently been an artist in residence at three Las Vegas elementary schools. She led a two-week clay workshop at Eisenberg Elementary and collaborated with students, staff and parents at Bendorf Elementary to produce an 8-foot ceramic mural to brighten the school's courtyard. Currently she is working with Kahre Elementary students on a sculpture installation.
The show opens with a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. June 9. The exhibit is funded in part by the Nevada State Council on the Arts.
