Callister and Argent at the Smallworks Gallery
Tuesday, June 2, 1998 | 10:46 a.m.
Philip Argent will display works from his latest body of work. Argent uses generic items and emblems (junk mail, and commercial cartoon-like illustrations) to create a complex picture space in which different graphic and painterly languages coexist.
Argent and Callister have exhibited in many contemporary art venues throughout the United States. Currently they reside in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The exhibition runs from June 19, through Aug. 1 at Smallworks Gallery, 101 E. Charleston Blvd. The artist's reception is 6-8 p.m. June 19 and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are noon-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment.
