A team of National Park Service rangers and Nevada Division of Wildlife officers will target the Boulder Basin area of Lake Mead to bring attention to water safety and boating regulations.
The program was developed in response to the high number of deaths in the Lake Mead Recreation Area this year. So far, 18 people have died, including 11 who drowned and seven killed in boating accidents.
The education program is patterned after a similar program after a spate of drownings in Arizona in the 1980s.
