Valley not affected by beef recall

A Costco Wholesale frozen beef patty recall has not affected the Las Vegas area so far, two local company executives said Tuesday.
Las Vegas Warehouse Manager Ted Sniezyk said the recall is for frozen ground beef patties packaged on two dates -- April 6, 1998, and April 7, 1998. The brand names are 1/3 pound Kirkland Signature Ground Sirloin and Loin of Beef Patties in 6-pound packages.
The meats can be identified by looking on the bottom of the plastic packages and locating two production codes. They are xx:xx 04/06/98 MFG and xx:xx 04/07/ 98 MFG.
Sniezyk said no one in Southern Nevada has returned meats with these dates. Tom Burba, warehouse manager in Henderson, also said no customers have returned the meat.
If customers find they have these meats, they are asked to return the packages to any Costco store, with or without a receipt.
Costco recalled frozen ground beef from 24 states on Monday. None have been found on the shelves in the Las Vegas or Henderson warehouses.
Costco said there was one reported illness in New York from meat produced from its central processing facility in Tracy, Calif.
Consumers with questions, or who believe they may have some of the contaminated meats, can call 1-800-727-8248.
Patties also can be returned to any Costco store.
