Boyfriend arrested in toddler’s death

Kevin Camp was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a murder by child abuse charge in the death of Lamar Jerome Brooks Jr. He is being held without bail.
Police received an early morning call Thursday about a child that had stopped breathing. When police arrived at the apartment, they observed bruises on the toddler, whose name was not released.
The boy was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Clark County coroner's office determined that the boy died from severe trauma to the torso.
The boy's 26-year-old mother, whose name was not released, was not at the apartment at the time of the 911 call. He was in the care of Camp.
