Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998 | 10:29 a.m.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said the visitor volume was 2.5 million people in November, up from 2.4 million a year earlier.

The count failed to keep pace with the increase in rooms in the city, and hotel-motel occupancy levels dropped 3.2 percent, to 84.9 percent. The figure was 88.1 percent a year ago.

Las Vegas added an additional 10,000 rooms during the 12-month period.

Convention attendance rose 11 percent to 539,000, providing an economic impact of $707 million, up from $614 million a year earlier.

In Laughlin, visitor volume was down 3.7 percent, to 330,666. The occupancy rate dropped 3 percent, to 77.3 percent.
