Trial begins for man charged with creating ruckus over jackpot

David William Gomer, 43, was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace after hitting the jackpot April 5 at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.
Casino workers testified Friday that Gomer ran into guests and slammed his chair into a slot machine, but a Silver Legacy surveillance tape played in court did not show the alleged incidents.
His Reno Municipal Court trial is scheduled to resume Jan. 30.
Casino officials said Gomer became irate after they treated it as a disputed jackpot and called state gaming officials.
They said Gomer was suspected of cheating in a slot game there the day before. That charge was later dropped.
