Indianapolis Ice 3, Quebec Rafales 2
QUEBEC CITY--Todd White's second goal of the game, at 10:47 of the third period, gave the Indianapolis Ice (17-22-3) a 3-2 win over the Quebec Rafales (15-23-3) Sunday in front of 6,674 at Le Colisee. White gave the Ice a 1-0 lead just 28 seconds into the game, and Ryan Huska made it 2-0 at the :58 mark. The Rafales closed the gap in the third period with goals by Jason Ruff at 7:03 and Bobby House at 12:23. Netminder Marc Lamothe stopped 36 of the Rafales' 38 shots to take the win. Tom Draper faced 31 shots and made 28 saves for Quebec.
Long Beach Ice Dogs 3, Chicago Wolves 2
ROSEMONT, Ill.--Vitali Yachmenev scored twice in the second period to lead the Long Beach Ice Dogs (26-14-6) past the Chicago Wolves 3-2 Sunday before 8,021 at the Rosemont Horizon. The win moved Long Beach into second place in the IHL Southwest Division, four points behind Houston. Yachmenev's second goal of the game, and tenth of the season, won the game at 13:23. Andrei Vasilyev, who recorded assists on both of Yachmenev's goals, put the Ice Dogs on the board at 9:02 of the opening period. He is tied for second in IHL scoring with 24 goals. Lane Lambert and Doug Ast also assisted on two Long Beach goals each. Tom Tilley scored once for the Midwest Division-leading Wolves (31-10-2), and assisted on Bob Nardella's second-period goal. Winning goalie Kay Whitmore turned away 25 of Chicago's 27 shots. Wendell Young stopped 29 of 32.
Cleveland Lumberjacks 3, Fort Wayne Komets 2 (SO)
FORT WAYNE, Ind.--The Cleveland Lumberjacks (19-18-3) came back from a two-goal deficit in regulation, then scored three times in the shootout to take a 3-2 win over the Fort Wayne Komets Sunday at Memorial Coliseum. The Jacks move into third place in the IHL Central Division, five points behind the second-place Komets. Vadim Epanchintsev, Eric Perrin and Jock Callander scored for Cleveland in the shootout. Goalie Mike Tamburro held the Komets (22-14-3) to a single tiebreaker goal, by Andrei Bashkirov. The Komets took the lead early in the third period, with goals by Robin Bawa at 3:07 and Tom Nemeth at 7:10. The Fort Wayne defense held until 17:57, Robin Bawa and Joe Dziedzic scored within 27 seconds to put Cleveland back into the game. Tamburro made 26 saves in regulation. Fort Wayne's Bruce Racine stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced.
Milwaukee Admirals 3, Orlando Solar Bears 2 (SO)
ORLANDO--Brent Peterson's goal in the seventh shootout round gave the Milwaukee Admirals (22-17-3) a 3-2 win over the Orlando Solar Bears (19-16-7) Sunday before 6,410 at Orlando Arena. Kelly Fairchild, traded to Milwaukee from the Solar Bears earlier Sunday, also scored in the tiebreaker. Orlando's only shootout scorer, Dave Mackey, went to the Solar Bears as part of the same trade. Mackey also had an assist on Orlando's first regulation goal, by former Milwaukee teammate Sean McCann at 7:24 of the second period. Kory Karlander and Mike Harder gave the Admirals a 2-1 lead before the intermission, but Trevor Sim's third-period equalizer sent the game to the shootout. Admirals goalie Mike Torchia faced 25 shots in regulation, and made 23 saves. David Littman stopped 22 of 20 for Orlando.
