City asked to keep up median

For the past 10 years, the median on Rampart Boulevard between Lake Mead Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue has been maintained by the Sun City Summerlin Community Association.
But the association just recently found out that it doesn't own the property, the city does. So at Monday's City Council meeting, the association will be asking the city to start maintaining it.
"Quite frankly, everyone thought that it was our responsibility," said Bill Diveley, executive director of the Sun City Summerlin Community Association. "When the homeowners started looking into it closer, they found it wasn't owned by us."
A fact that concerned Diveley, since his crew was out there maintaining it.
"If someone would have gotten hurt while working on it, our insurance might not have covered it," he said.
The median is between Sun City and Desert Shores, so it's not even within the perimeters of the association's walls, Diveley said.
"We're just giving back to the city what is legally theirs," he said.
