Marc Cardinalli was hired for the $80,000-a-year post despite the concerns of some UNLV professors and Faculty Senate members about the creation of the position. They questioned the need for the post while UNLV has at its service four attorneys who work for the state university system.
Cardinalli was hired from the University and Community College System of Nevada, where he was an assistant general counsel. Before joining the university system, Cardinalli worked in the litigation division of the Nevada attorney general's office.
