Cleveland Lumberjacks 3, Fort Wayne Komets 3
CLEVELAND--The Cleveland Lumberjacks snapped the IHL's longest winning streak Sunday, beating the Fort Wayne Komets 7-3 in front of 8,275 at Gund Arena. Eric Perrin and Dale Craighead each scored twice as the Jacks handed Fort Wayne their first loss in 12 starts, and ended their own four-game skid. Joe Dziedzic scored one goal and two assists, and Jock Callander a goal and one assist. Stefan Bergkvist put Cleveland on the board with his second goal of the season, 1:38 into the second period. The Komets controlled the game early, taking a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Tom Pederson and Dan Currie. Andrei Bashkirov's third-period tally tied the score at 3-3 before the Jacks seized the momentum. Winning goalie Mike Tamburro stopped 27 of the Komets' 30 shots. Kevin Weekes made 34 saves on 41 chances in the Fort Wayne net.
Chicago Wolves 3, Manitoba Moose 2
ROSEMONT, Ill.--Scott Pearson's 17th goal of the season, at 16:47 of the third period, gave the Chicago Wolves (30-8-2) a 3-2 win over the Manitoba Moose (14-19-4) Sunday at the Rosemont Horizon. Steve Maltais moved into a tie for the IHL goal scoring lead with his 24th of the season, on a power play 9:30 into the final period. Ravil Gusmanov gave Chicago the early lead with the only goal of the first period. Greg Pankewicz equalized for the Moose at 12:13 of the second, and Brett Hauer capped the Manitoba scoring with less than a minute left in the game. Ray LeBlanc was in goal for the Wolves' fifth straight win, and stopped 18 of Manitoba's 20 shots. Fred Brathwaite turned away 30 of 33 for the Moose.
Houston Aeros 5, San Antonio Dragons 2
HOUSTON--The Houston Aeros (27-10-4) posted their fourth straight win Sunday, beating the San Antonio Dragons 5-2 in front of 6,873 at the Compaq Center. Mark Freer won the game at 13:54 of the second period. David Oliver scored for Houston in the first and third periods, and Rob Valisevic had a goal and an assist. Mike Yeo put the Aeros on the board 10:32 into the game. The Dragons (11-24-4) fell behind by two goals in the first period, but rallied to tie with second period goals by Micah Alvazoff and Daniel Shank. Aeros goalie Ryan Bach stopped 33 of 35 shots to post his 13th win of the season. Scott Bailey started in goal for the Dragons, and made eight saves on 10 shots in the first period. Substitute Pokey Reddick finished with 15 saves on 18 chances, and the loss.
