Three Clark County commissioners report contributions

CARSON CITY -- Three female Clark County commissioners are loading up on money for the upcoming election.

Commissioner Lorraine Hunt, mentioned as a possible candidate for lieutenant governor, reported Friday she has raised $232,900 in campaign contributions since Oct. 1.

Commissioner Myrna Williams listed $217,350 and Erin Kenny received $157,179.

The reports were filed with the Secretary of State's Office in Carson City, under a new legal requirement.

Hunt received $15,000 from Circus Circus Enterprises and two of its casinos -- Circus Circus and Excalibur. Bally's Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Hilton and PRMA Land Development Co., each chipped in $10,000 for Hunt's campaign.

She also received $5,000 from the Aladdin, Binion's Horseshoe, Boyd Gaming Corp., Chetak Development, Hard Rock Hotel, Harvey's hotel casino, Will Kemp, Polo Resorts, Primadonna Casino and Treasure Island.

Williams collected $20,000 from the four casinos owned by Circus Circus Enterprises -- Circus Circus ($10,000), Excalibur ($5,000) and Luxor ($5,000). There were $10,000 donations each from Bally's, the Hilton, MGM-Grand and the Aladdin. Donations of $5,000 each came from Lewis Homes Management Co., Boyd Gaming; Sahara, Moroccan Advertising; Silver State Aviation, Bennett Realty and Big Jackpot Slots Inc., all in Las Vegas.

There were also $5,000 donation from Harvey's at Lake Tahoe, the Hard Rock, Treasure Island, Mirage, Polo Resorts, Binion's Horseshoe, Primadonna, PRMA Land Development, and the Rio.

Kinney's major contributions of $10,000 each came from Escondido and South Park Ltd., both of Las Vegas. There were $5,000 contributions from the Aladdin Holding LLC and the Rio.

Thomas Wright, a Republican candidate for attorney general, listed $34,690 in contributions. But he personally donated or loaned the campaign $12,500. Wright of Reno received $5,000 from Binion's Horseshoe.

State Sen. Randolph Townsend, R-Reno, listed $30,349 in contributions. There was $10,000 from the Century Wellness Centers Ltd and $5,000 from the Senate Republican Leadership Conference. He also received a $500 contribution from the Tobacco Institute.
