State to file notice for sewage plant release

The release was at levels high enough to kill dozens of fish.
Allen Biaggi, deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Division, said the state has ordered the city to file a report on the Dec. 15 breakdown at the plant. The city will also be expected to outline steps to prevent future breakdowns.
The Las Vegas Wash is a channel for treated waste water that empties into Lake Mead, six miles upstream of the Las Vegas Valley's drinking water supply intakes.
The breakdown occurred during the pre-dawn hours when a pump failed in a probe that controls how much chlorine is removed from waste water in the last step of the treatment process.
