Lady Rebels beaten by Cowgirls

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Senior guard Courtney Stapp led all scorers with 15 points and junior center Rebecca Tomlin grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds as Wyoming defeated the UNLV Lady Rebels 64-50 Thursday night in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Wyoming held a 21-11 advantage with 7:51 remaining in the first half but UNLV held the Cowgirls scoreless for the rest of the half, outscoring them 10-0 to go into halftime tied at 21-21.
The Lady Rebels scored the first six points of the second half to take a 27-21 lead but Wyoming went on a 20-6 run over the next 6:48 and led 41-33. UNLV cut Wyoming's lead to 43-41 with 7:43 to play but Wyoming went on a 14-3 run over the next 3:51 to take control of the game.
Junior center Liz Wolfe led the Lady Rebels (1-11, 0-1) in scoring for the second consecutive game, recording 13 points. Senior guard Taneisha Gossett added 12 points and junior forward Angalete Dye led the team with 10 rebounds.
Wyoming (4-6, 1-0) was assisted in the win by junior guard Regan Dulaney, who scored 11 points for the Cowgirls.
The Lady Rebels will be back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. (PST) as they take on Colorado State in Fort Collins.
