Henderson offers home-improvement aid

The city of Henderson is helping residents improve their housing situations with two new programs.
The Housing Rehabilitation Program will provide deferred-payment loans or low-interest loans for necessary home repairs. Depending on annual household income, residents can obtain roofing, heating and cooling system, flooring, electrical, plumbing and other home repairs through the program.
Information on home repair loans is available by calling Douglas Kuntz, housing rehabilitation specialist, at 565-2164.
Henderson also is providing first-time homebuyer assistance through the "A Place to Call Home" program.
Families or individuals who have lived in Henderson for at least one year, or who have worked for a Henderson business for at least one year, are eligible to apply for the grant program. There also are limits on the amount of annual income for the household, but in some cases, eligible Henderson families can purchase a home of their own for as little as $750.
Those interested in purchasing a home of their own through the program can call Skeet Fitzgerald, housing development manager, at 565-2047.
