CARSON CITY -- Andrea (Ande) Engleman, who served 12 years as executive director of the Nevada Press Association, has been named public information officer for Secretary of State Dean Heller.
Engleman succeeds Vicki Means who resigned in October. Prior to taking the job with Heller, Engleman was associate editor for the Nevada Files, a Washington D.C. business-oriented newsletter.
Heller plans to increase public's access to information and Engleman's background will help achieve the goal of making the office more user-friendly.
He said Engleman will represent him on the state Records Management Committee, which last year recommended an overhaul of the state's public records law. During her tenure with the press association, an organization of Nevada newspapers, Engleman gained a reputation as an advocate for open government.
