"The Price is Right" is the longest running game show in television. Contestants on the show are chosen based on interviews with potential contestants waiting in the ticket line. Nine audience members are chosen to be contestants on each show, but only the producers know which six will actually compete until the announcer calls, "Come on down!"

Four Henderson participants have been selected as contestants on previous trips.

An orchid gardening workshop will be co-sponsored by Henderson Parks and Recreation and the Sunset Garden Club 7-8 p.m. March 11 at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Participation is open to adults at a cost of $5.

The workshop will present the basics of orchid culture. Many amateur growers are tempted to grow a mixed collection of orchids, but most would have better success in limiting their cultivation to just a few. Until greenhouse keepers developed modern techniques, germinating orchids was consider a very difficult process. Hand-pollinating orchids was not successful until 1856.

Henderson Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the American Association of Retired Persons to present a 55 Alive driving workshop. The two-part workshop will be conducted noon-4 p.m. March 11-12 at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. The workshop is open to participants 50 and older and costs $8, payable to AARP.

Studies indicate that older drivers can employ driving techniques to compensate for deteriorating driving skills related to changes in hearing, sight and reaction time. By answering specific questions, AARP will provide seniors with tailored classroom instruction. Actual driving is not required in the workshop.
