UNLV tries to improve latest ranking

The UNLV baseball team will put its No. 22 ranking (USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll) on the line this weekend in a three-game series with Western Athletic Conference rival Fresno State at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The Rebels and Bulldogs will play at 3:05 p.m. Friday and 1:05 on Saturday and Sunday.
UNLV, 12-4, has won eight of its past 12 games. Fresno State is 4-9. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series with the Rebels, 34-20.
The Rebels are one of three WAC teams ranked in this week's ESPN poll, joining Rice and Hawaii.
In other UNLV sports:
* The UNLV softball team will host Tulsa in a pair of doubleheaders today and Saturday. First pitch at Rebel Diamond is noon both days.
