Trickle was shot the night of Feb. 9, 1997, as he drove eastbound across the Interstate 15 overpass on Blue Diamond Road, near the Boomtown hotel-casino on the southern edge of Las Vegas.
Police still lack solid leads in finding the person who shot Trickle.
He remains in a coma from the shooting.
A fund-raiser for Trickle will be held Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. at the Santa Fe. Trickle's uncle, NASCAR Winston Cup regular Dick Trickle, is expected to attend.
