BBC Symphony Orchestra at UNLV

Founded by Adrian Boult in 1930 as London's first permanent orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra pioneers new music, appearing in live broadcasts and at concerts throughout the country and abroad. The orchestra has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C
Andrew Davis was appointed chief conductor in 1989. He is currently recording a major series of works, "The British Line," with the orchestra for Warner Classics International. Released thus far have been the Elgar Symphonies and Enigma Variations, five Vaughn Williams Symphonies and music by Dolius, Britten and Tippett. He continues extensive work as a guest conductor and, for many seasons, has been a regular at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Felicity Lott has sung major roles in opera houses throughout the United States and Europe, including the Paris Opera, the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and La Scala, Milan.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the sponsorship of the Charles Vanda Master Series by radio station KNPR. KLVX Channel 10 is the television sponsor of the UNLV Performing Arts Center's 1997-98 production season.
