Four or five other family members managed to escape the smoke and flames when the fire erupted around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the home on Desna Street.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about ten minutes, but Battalion Chief Mike Brown said the entire house was heavily damaged by heat and smoke.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Ambulance crews at the scene tried to revive the woman. She was taken to Washoe Medical Center, where she died.
Her name was not immediately released.
