A Las Vegas man licensed by the state to care for the elderly has been arrested and charged with elder abuse, elder neglect and criminal neglect of a patient with substantial bodily harm, Metro Police said.
On Feb. 3, detectives began an investigation into serious bedsores suffered by a resident while in the care of Christopher Michael Childers, owner and operator of the Desert Palms No. 2 licensed adult care home at 5233 Burnham Ave.
On Thursday, detectives discovered that two other residents had allegedly been "grabbed, pushed and shoved by Mr. Childers while in his care," police said.
Also, the investigation showed that residents were required to remain in their rooms, except during meal times, isolating them from other residents, police said.
Childers was licensed to care for six residents, but 10 people were found in his group home. Childers was arrested on Thursday at the home. The residents remain in the home, police said.
