UNLV Golf three shots off the pace
KANEOHE, Hawai'i -- The No. 1-ranked UNLV golf team is three shots off the lead after the second round of play Thursday at the 21-team John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,552-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course located on the grounds of the Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station.
The Rebels (283-279--562, 14-under-par) are behind tournament-leader and host Hawai'i (284-275--559). Oklahoma State (282-284--556) is in third and Arizona (288-280--568) is in fourth. Colorado State (285-285--570), New Mexico (285-285--570), Fresno State (284-286--570) and Oklahoma (283-287--570) are all tied for the fifth spot.
Junior Chris Berry (72-66--138, 6-under-par) leads the Rebels individually and is tied for sixth place. Hawai'i's Bret Parker (72-63--135) has the tournament's individual lead by one shot over New Mexico's Doug La Belle (66-70--136).
Other Rebels competing are sophomore Jeremy Anderson (70-70--140), who is tied for 13th, senior Bill Lunde (70-72--142) and junior Charley Hoffman (71-41--142), who are both tied for 21st and freshman Scott Lander (72-74--146), who is tied for 42nd.
The tournament will conclude with 18 on Friday.
