Cincinnati Cyclones 6, Cleveland Lumberjacks 3

CINCINNATI--Don Biggs had a hat trick to lead the Cincinnati Cyclones (27-22-10) past the Cleveland Lumberjacks 6-3 Wednesday in front of 4,316 at The Crown. Marc Labelle broke a scoreless tie in the second minute of the second period, and the Cyclones surged to a 3-0 lead with additional goals from Jeff Wells and Biggs. Chris Longo and Jock Callander scored to put Cleveland (25-26-6) back into the game before Biggs wrapped up the win at 19:22. The Cyclones outscored Cleveland 2-1 in the final period, with goals by Brent Fedyk and Biggs bracketing a ninth-minute tally by the Lumberjacks' Jason McBain. Parris Duffus made 24 saves in goal as the Cyclones snapped a two-game losing streak. Cleveland netminder Derek Wilkinson faced 41 shots, finishing with 36 saves.

Milwaukee Admirals 5, Quebec Rafales 1

MILWAUKEE--The Milwaukee Admirals (30-24-4) snapped a four-game losing streak with Wednesday night's 5-1 win over the Quebec Rafales (20-32-6). A crowd of 5,895 was on hand at the Bradley Center. Mike Tomlak and Kelly Fairchild paced the Admirals with a goal and an assist apiece. Eric Fenton put Milwaukee on the board with the only goal of the first period. Brent Peterson netted the game-winner on a power play 11:46 into the second, and Fairchild, Tomlak and Mike Harder scored in the third. Mike McNeill chipped in with a pair of assists. Steve Larouche saved Quebec from the shutout with his 21st goal of the season, at 3:47 of the third period. Winning goalie Mike Torchia stopped 29 of the Rafales' 30 shots. Tom Draper turned away 20 of 25 as Quebec dropped their third in a row.

Chicago Wolves 5, Manitoba Moose 4

ROSEMONT, Ill.--Alexander Semak scored at 7:16 of the third period to give the Chicago Wolves (39-18-3) a 5-4 win over the Manitoba Moose (24-29-5) Wednesday before 6,123 at the Rosemont Horizon. The loss ended Manitoba's longest win streak of the season, four games. The Wolves led 4-1 after a period, thanks to a pair of power play goals by Jamie Baker and single tallies by Tom Tilley and IHL goal scoring leader Steve Maltais. Manitoba battled back in the second stanza with goals by Michel Mongeau, Scott Thomas -- his second of the game -- and Greg Pankewicz. Wendell Young was in goal for the Wolves, facing 23 shots and making 19 saves. Manitoba starter Fred Brathwaite stopped 15 of 19 in the first period. Brian Elder finished the game with 24 saves on 25 chances.

Kansas City Blades 6, Michigan K-Wings 2

KANSAS CITY--The Kansas City Blades held on to a share of second place in the IHL Midwest Division by beating the Michigan K-Wings 6-2 Wednesday at Kemper Arena. A crowd of 3,591 saw the Blades (28-22-8) pick up their third straight win. The Blades rebounded from a 1-0 deficit with six unanswered goals, two of them by star of the game Dale Craigwell. Reggie Savage, Dean Ewen, Dean Sylvester and Claudio Scremin also scored during the Kansas City run, while Mike Craig, J.F. Quintin and Iain Fraser had two assists each. The K-Wings, who had won two straight coming into Wednesday's contest, scored the first and last goals of the game. Aris Brimanis netted his third of the season 2:47 into the game, and Sergey Gusev his first at 4:27 of the third. Blades goalie Peter Skudra faced 27 shots and made 25 saves. Manny Fernandez played the first 56:11 for Michigan, leaving with 17 saves on 22 Kansas City attempts. Jordon Willis stopped 11 of 12 in relief.

Utah Grizzlies 4, Houston Aeros 0

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah--The Utah Grizzlies (35-15-7) outshot the Houston Aeros (36-16-6) 48-25 on the way to a 4-0 win Wednesday at the "E" Center. The victory, a franchise-record sixth shutout of the season for Utah, pulled the Grizzlies within one point of the Aeros, who fall to second in the Southwest Division behind the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Vladimir Orszagh started the Utah scoring 15:59 after the opening faceoff, and a goal by John LeBlanc -- his 750th career point -- made the score 2-0 at the end of two periods. Mark Lawrence and Kip Miller added third period goals. Miller also picked up an assist, leaving him with a team-high 61 points this season. The win was goalie Philippe DeRouville's 13th of the year. Houston netminder Frederic Chabot finished with 44 saves.

Long Beach Ice Dogs 4, Detroit Vipers 3 (SO)

LONG BEACH, Calif.--The Long Beach Ice Dogs (36-16-8) scored on three of five shootout chances to defeat the Detroit Vipers 4-3, and take over first place in the IHL Southwest Conference, Wednesday night. The game drew 4,004 to the Long Beach Arena. Patrik Augusta and Patrick Stefan scored for the Ice Dogs in both regulation and the shootout. Victor Ignatjev netted the deciding shootout goal, in the fifth round. Darryl Williams' goal at 16:24 of the third period tied the score 3-3 to force the tiebreaker. Detroit's Dan Kesa moved into a tie for second on the IHL goal scoring list with his 30th goal of the season. Clayton Beddoes put the Vipers (36-13-10) on the board with a shorthanded tally in the tenth minute of the game, and Andy Bezeau scored unassisted early in the third. Goalie Jeff Reese kept the outgunned Vipers in the game by stopping 46 of 49 Long Beach shots. The Ice Dogs defense held Detroit to only 17 shots in regulation, 14 of them stopped by goalie Kay Whitmore.
