Letter: Elected officials should have to pass lie detectors

Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998 | 9:48 a.m.

What bothers me now is that we have so many people running our country that can't remember what happened yesterday. Now, that worries me a little because, if we get into a war with Iraq, our great president might just forget to send the troops over.

I've read or heard that a person who lies all the time will eventually believe that everything he or she says is the truth.

I suggest, if we want a good government, all employees and those that are voted in should take a lie detector test before they become members of our government. Of course, they have to pass the test.
