Sarah Rose Bernstein, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 4, 1907, in Sochochow, Poland. A resident for eight years, she was a longtime credit department manager for the May Co., a member of Pioneer Women of Denver and Histadrut in Denver.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Leroy "Lee" Bernstein of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Denver. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

DESTINY IMANI BLACK

Destiny Imani Black, 9 months, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 7, 1997, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her parents, Angelia M. and Henry E. Black Jr., and two brothers, Solomon Black and Henry E. Black III, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 9 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington, Las Vegas.

ETTA JOAN BUSSEY

Etta Joan Bussey, 72, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. She was born July 31, 1925, in South Dakota. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Warren G.; four sons, Paul V. Bussey, Timothy J. Bussey and Jeffrey J. Bussey, all of California, and Mike W. Bussey of Abu Dhabi; three daughters, Joan C. Pollard of Reno, Shirley J. Guglielmelli and Vicky J. King, both of California; one brother, John Balvin of California; two sisters, Edna J. Beringer of South Dakota and Janet Aldridge of California.

A vigil will be 6 p.m. today in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Boulder City. Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew's. Burial will follow in Boulder City Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

MOSES DAVID CHODY

Moses David Chody, 91, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1906, in New York City. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired musician, professional pianist and organist, a member of American Legion Post 8 and a life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 47, Hollywood.

He is survived by one nephew, Bruce Bertz of Los Angeles.

Burial will be in Los Angeles. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

THOMAS JOSEPH CUMMINGS

Thomas Joseph Cummings, 62, of Las Vegas died Sunday. He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in New York. A resident for 11 years, he was a salesman.

He is survived by one daughter, Gina Cummings, one son, Joseph Cummings, one brother, James Cummings, and one sister, Mary Elizabeth McCutcheon, all of New York.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Robert Daniello, 52, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 14, 1945, in New York City. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired officer for the Department of Corrections and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lora; two sons, Robert Daniello of Belle Fouche, S.D., and Michael Daniello of Las Vegas; one daughter, Christina Daniello of Belle Fouche; two sisters, Laurie Huebner and Katie Kumpas, both of New York; three nieces and two nephews; and one grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Graveside services will be 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

WALTER HUGH DAVIS

Walter Hugh Davis, 57, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1940, in Ohio. A resident for 16 years, he was a sales manager for a management consulting business.

He is survived by his wife, Sonya; one stepdaughter, Michele Fisher; one brother, Donald Hugh Davis; and three grandchildren.

JAMES RUSSELL DICKS

James Russell Dicks, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Mount Clemens, Mich. He was a retired automotive glass worker and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl S.; four daughters, Linda Gorski and Arlene Inscho, both of Macomb Township, Mich., Dianne Blase of Harrison Township, Mich., and Christine Ballew of Murietta, Calif.; one sister, Kathleen Vandecar of Harrison Township; one brother, Richard Dicks of Holmes, Pa.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

FREDDIE DEAN EDWARDS

Freddie Dean Edwards, 46, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 23, 1951, in Michigan. A resident for two years, he was a plumber and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jatana, two sons, Freddie Edwards and Tomisluv Edwards, and one sister, Glenda Edwards, all of Cleveland; five brothers, James Edwards of St. Paul, Minn., L.C. Henley and Jonny Edwards, both of Cleveland, Junior Edwards of Michigan and "Red" Edwards of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Detroit. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

HELEN R. ERICKSON

Helen R. Erickson, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired bookkeeper for the fire department and a member of the Elks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. "Bill Swede," and one niece.

CARIDAD FERNANDEZ

Caridad Fernandez, 85, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Cuba. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Wilfredo Sr.; three daughters, Xiomara Mateos, Candy Morelli and Lazara Guzman, and one son, Wilfredo Fernandez Jr., all of North Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

CAROLINE FIEL

Caroline Fiel, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 7, 1929, in Bari, Italy. A 7 1/2-year resident, she was a private school administrator, a member of the Italian Catholic Federation in Las Vegas, Italian Club in Sun City and the Silver Tones.

She is survived by her husband, John R.; one son, John M. Fiel of New Rochelle, N.Y.; one daughter, Carol Ann Fink of Las Vegas; her mother, Marie Ann Castorina of Las Vegas; one brother, Vito Ventricelli of Pahrump; two sisters, Irene Petilli of Yonkers, N.Y., and Loretta Fusco of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-noon Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

RALPH T. FOX

Ralph T. Fox, 70, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 2, 1927, in the Bronx, N.Y. A 27-year resident, he was a retired 23-year Silver State Disposal Service motor vehicle mechanic, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and a member of Teamsters Union Local 631.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth Fox of Las Vegas; one brother, Joseph Fox of Seaford, N.Y.; and one sister, Dorothy Quigley of Florida.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be private.

CLARENCE D. GUNNOE

Clarence D. Gunnoe, 56, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A resident for 10 years, he was born Feb. 18, 1941, in West Virginia.

He is survived by one son, Jason Gunnoe of Las Vegas; and his mother, Mary Gunnoe of West Virginia.

JEANNE RUSSELL JANISH

Jeanne Russell Janish, 95, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 20, 1902, in Marshall, Iowa. A resident for 40 years, she was a retired botanist illustrator for 40 years, an illustrator for Southwest Monuments, a member of the Nevada Archeological Society and Botanical Gardens. The Nevada Women's Archives will display her artwork in the women's archive section of UNLV on March 8.

She is survived by two nieces, Gloria Parker and Patricia Janish, both of Las Vegas; one nephew, Dale Janish of Anaheim, Calif.

Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2121 Western Ave., Suite A-3, is handling arrangements.

MARVEL EVELINA KITCHENS

Marvel Evelina Kitchens, 94, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local rehabilitation center. She was born Nov. 29, 1903, in Prosser, Wash. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Edna Ronning of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

SANDY MAILMAN

Sandy Mailman, 61, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. A resident for 35 years, she was a thrift store cashier.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew; one son, Andy Mailman Jr. of Las Vegas; four brothers, Jerald Cooper and Jack Cooper, both of Las Vegas, Don Cooper of Des Moines and William Cooper of Pahrump; and two grandchildren.

DOROTHY E. MAY

Dorothy E. May, 84, of Carson City died Monday in a Carson City hospital. She was born May 19, 1913, in Wichita, Kan. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a retired secretary, a member of Daughters of the Nile and Eastern Star, both in Wichita, enjoyed traveling and loved animals.

She is survived by her companion, Ed Hendricks of Carson City.

William J. Page, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Pawtucket, R.I. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired hotel parking attendant and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Doris J.; six sons, William J. Page Jr., James D. Page, Raymond B. Page, Paul A. Page, all of Las Vegas, and Joseph R. Page of Denver; one sister, Olive Page of Pawtucket; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

SONDRA SHYRL SCROGGINS

Sondra Shyrl Scroggins, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Missouri. A resident for 10 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by three sons, Darin Scroggins and Darvez Scroggins, both of Las Vegas, and DeMarco Scroggins of Illinois; one daughter, Dameion Watkins of Illinois; her mother, Helen Scott, and two brothers, Roger Wright and Antoine Scroggins, all of Virginia; and three sisters, Carolyn Farmer of Illinois, Lisa Scroggins of Virginia and Alicia Scott of Tennessee; and 11 grandchildren.

Edwina Constance Smith, 78, of Henderson died Sunday in a local nursing center. She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Henderson. An eight-year resident, she was a retired administrative assistant for a hardware manufacturer.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Scialabba of Henderson; one son, Paul Smith of Phoenix; one sister, Mary St. Clair of Henderson; one brother, Raymond Brosterhous of Hemet, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Lucille Christine Still, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 6, 1920.

She is survived by her husband, Harry; one daughter, Barbara Ann Reid of Missouri; and two sons, Douglas J. Still of Colorado and Richard C. Still of Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Blanche W. Toledo, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born June 14, 1927, in New York. A resident for five years, she was a retired secretary for a lending institution.

She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Foley of Las Vegas and Lisa Hughes of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; three sons, George Mockbee of North Las Vegas, Bobby Mockbee of Las Vegas and Michael Toledo of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Darlene Trainer, 52, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1946, in Illinois. A resident for 12 years, she was an accountant.

She is survived by two sons, Geoffrey Trainer of San Diego and Gregory Trainer of Las Vegas; one daughter, Stephanie Trainer of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.
