Orlando---The Utah Grizzlies' Kip Miller scored three goals and the Manitoba Moose's Greg Pankiewicz added two more as the West defeated the East 12-8 in the International Hockey League All-Star Game Tuesday in front of 10,176 at the Orlando Arena. Fourteen different players scored in the penalty-free game. The only East player to find the net more than once was the Cleveland Lumberjacks' Martin St. Louis, who also recorded a hat trick. After the hometown Solar Bears' Grigori Panteleyev put the East up 1-0 47 seconds into the game, the West reeled off five goals in a three-minute period. Miller began the barrage with two goals, starting at 3:52, followed by tallies by the Chicago Wolves' Steve Maltais and the Long Beach Ice Dogs Patrick Augusta, and concluded at 6:51 with Pankiewicz's first goal. The East rallied with three straight goals, by the Michigan K-Wings Chris Tancill of the Michigan K-Wings, the Solar Bears' Mark Beaufait and Ian Boyce of the Fort Wayne Komets, to end the period trailing 5-4. The West opened the second period with five straigh goals, with Martin Gendron (Milwaukee Admirals), Miller, Kevin Dahl (Chicago Wolves), Rob Valicevic (Houston Aeros) and Maltais combining to push the lead to 10-4. St. Louis closed out the second period scoring with two of his three goals. Pankewicz and the Kansas City Blades' Shawn Heins found the net for the West in the third period, while St. Louis and the Cincinnati Cyclones' Todd Simon scored for the East. West starting goaltender Wendell Young (Chicago Wolves) faced 16 shots and made 12 saves, while Ryan Bach (Houston Aeros) stopped 20 of 24). East starter Geoff Sarjeant (Cincinnati Cyclones) made 13 saves on 20 shots, while Ian Gordon (Grand Rapids Griffins) stopped 16 of 21.
